Friends in San Francisco

New and Old – Friends with Passion

Our personal and professional lives revolve around entrepreneurship and we are thrilled by brilliant companies — brilliant people! We are consistently inspired by so many of the people we meet, and hearing their passion for life. While in San Fracisco we had many fun adventures, made new friends, and reconnected with old friends along the way. Below is a more info on some of the great companies, organizations, and people that we had the privilege of meeting while traveling and exploring the city.

In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

Pixar – Imagination at Work

Unique ideas. Compelling stories. Visual artistry. Cutting-edge technology. They all come together under one roof at Pixar’s 22-acre Emeryville campus. Pixar Animation Studios has created acclaimed animated feature and short films for over 25 years. And is also home to the RenderMan line of software products.

Pixar has produced fourteen feature films, beginning with Toy Story in 1995. All of the films have received both critical and financial success, with the notable exception being Cars 2, which, while commercially successful, received substantially less praise than Pixar's other productions.

It was truly a privilege to be invited to Pixar, explore their offices, and learn more about the studio. The dedication of the team and their pursuit of excellence in every way is truly phenomenal. The detail and consideration taken with each aspect of every film is stunning – I especially enjoyed the color scripts.

City Impact – For the People in Inner City SF

One early morning in 1984 after getting off the graveyard shift, Roger Huang was waiting for a tow truck in the Tenderloin. He noticed a young boy being picked on by a group of bullies. Torn between intervening to help the boy and not wanting to get involved, he drove away with a heavy heart. On the way home God laid the burden on his heart, “What if that was your son being picked on?” The next morning Roger and Maite made 50 sandwiches, and Roger went back to the Tenderloin to give them away to the homeless that same day. The following week he brought his wife Maite to the Tenderloin to help with the ministry, and San Francisco City Impact was born.

Today, the ministry has grown to five major departments with 16 weekly programs. Everything City Impact does is to intervene on behalf of the people in the inner city of San Francisco.

We'd be thrilled to hear your thoughts, comments, & feedback!
