Mount Tamalpais Park

West Coast Winter Adventures

Just north of San Francisco lies Mount Tamalpais State Park, and its heaven on earth. Its a truly stunning place. With sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean and the bay, tucked away beaches, ancient redwoods, hiking trails, and more, its a great place to spend a Saturday!

We drove throughout the park, underneath red wood and oak forests, turn back after turn back, along US 101 traversing the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. The views were breathtaking. And each dip and curve revealed an even more epic scene. And of course it was the typical, perfect California weather.

Not all who wander are lost.

Everyone who visits San Francisco should take the time to visit this park. Take a day. Take two! And enjoy it. There is so much to do. With over 200 miles of connected trails, don’t get lost. Muir woods is a must see, if you can find a place to park – go early. Muir Beach is the great place to dip your toes in the Pacific, tucked away just off the road. And take the time to hike up from the beach – just a few minutes – because the views are worth the climb up.

Next time, we’ll consider camping at Steep Ravine or finding a place at Stinson Beach, an idyllic little beach town with all the faire. Couldn’t go wrong with either option!

We’ve explored coastlines along Viet Nam, The Baltic Sea, The Gulf of Mexico, and many more. Here, however, is like no other!

The day was quite refreshing. We spent a week in San Francisco, and it was filled with work and meetings. A hectic week for sure! Taking a day to relax – to reflect – and to thoroughly enjoy each others company, we had a wonderful time. These are the moments we memorialize. The moments we remember and hold dear. We find that these types of moments are generally the least costly! And that’s just the way we like it.

We'd be thrilled to hear your thoughts, comments, & feedback!
